15 out Kindness! Did you know that people who are kind and compassionate are often the most successful?
Teaching kindness, care and love to children helps them (and us) to escalate their feelings of happiness, improve their well-being, reduce bullying, enrich their friendships, and build peace by teaching them to be givers of kindness.
According to Valerie Quann and Carol Anne Wien in the article The Visible Empathy of Infants and Toddlers, empathy in very young children is defined as the capacity to observe the feelings of another and to respond with care and concern for that other.
How to create a culture of care?
The relationships the children has during her first years, with family, educators and friends is an important factor that will influence how children act within any type of early learning setting.
Children learn by observation, when they see their parents, teachers and older children behaving in a kind way, they catch the feeling and also pass ir on. Helping the little ones to understand the feelings of others is an important aspect of the curriculum of living together. To foster the relationships that surround the children with warm and caring interactions. A child cannot be spoiled by being loved and respected or by learning how to love and respect others.
How to develop the little ones empathy?
1. Be the model positive action
2. Treat your child with respect
3. Let your child know often that how they treat others matters to you greatly
4. Acknowledge kindness
5. Be sensitive to messages that your child picks up from the media
6. Be patient with your little one
7. Respond sensitively, with kindness and compassion to everyone’s needs and by meeting
those needs in a timely manner
“It is important to seize every opportunity to foster early empathic behaviors in infants and toddlers, reinforce
social behaviors, and nurture a sense of belonging to a caring community. This is done best within a culture of caring, one that benefits us all, now and well into the future.”
Here at CC’s ECO FDC we believe that through mindfulness practices as yoga and meditation, that’s how the little ones will build self-confidence, focus, and treat others and themselves with respect and appreciation, a gift they will have for the rest of their lives.
